Shaffer Solutions announces release of DiskShare Version 5

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2003--Shaffer

announces the new release of their Windows-based Network File System
(NFS) server software, DiskShare V5 for Windows NT/2000/XP.
DiskShare, which is consistently ranked by 3rd Party evaluators as

users to share Windows directories and files to UNIX/Linux or other

New Command Line Utilities:

-- DSMAP - provides ability to add, delete and list user and
group mappings, as well as define where to acquire the NFS and
Windows user and group information.

-- NFSShare - provides ability to manage new and existing NFS
shares on the network.

-- NFSConvert - provides ability to convert text file formats
from Windows to UNIX formats, or vice versa.

New Configuration and Installation Features:

-- Added text file conversion capability.

-- Automatic detection of third party PortMapper service, or
other potentially conflicting services.

-- Automatic identification of policy settings that may impact
World Access permissions.

Improved User Mapping Capabilities:

-- Added flexibility to establish user mappings at system bootup,
or only when user mapping is needed.

-- Improved GUI for ease of use.

-- Improved error reporting via System Event Viewer.

-- Improved NFS user and group information access from either the
Network Information System (NIS) or from local or remote
password and group files.

Expanded capabilities for creating DiskShare shares:

-- Fewer reboots - no longer necessary when defining aliases or
when installing only the DiskShare Authentication portion.

-- Improved directory name conversion - long directory names can
now be converted to shorter, user-friendly names.

-- Expanded Netgroups capability - allows control of a range of
IP addresses as opposed to individual control.
